some good news because I needed something
Mar. 8th, 2006 04:33 pmWell while was out gardening to try and make myself feel a little better, so I could be stronger for Jeremy, I started thinking about the South Central Farm I posted about a couple of entries ago. I went to thier website and found out that they recieved a stay of eviction until March 13th. So that made me feel a little better. It's not much but it's a start.

Dear Honorable Antonio Villaraigosa,
It has recently come to my attention that the community farm known as South Central Farm located in the city of Los Angels received an eviction notice and must evacuate the property by March 6th. I am writing you in the sincere hope that you will take another point of view into consideration and the eviction will be halted.
According to lacity.org you are “considered one of the leading progressive voices in the country.” And your “mayoral platform emphasizes finding solutions to the major issues facing Los Angeles including education, transportation, public safety, economic development and ethics”. Evicting The South Central Farm directly opposes the very values you were elected for.
These people who farm this land have worked to feed themselves. Instead of applying for government aid they have gone and done honest work. They have repaired the soil and put food on their plates. The plants they grow feed on the CO2 produced by LA commuters, and improve the air quality. They are building a solid community based on values anyone could feel proud of teaching their children. You must see this community farm for the astounding amount of positive it has created.
Please consider the massive amount of good this farm has done for your community. Please open your eyes to the worth that goes far beyond dollar and cents.
