So I've been in a funk for a couple of weeks now.
So in an attempt to push myself back into some semblance of sanity I've been entering back into exercising more regularly.
Yoga, my back exercises, and of course hiking.

I tried for most of the day to find a hiking partner to no avail, and then ended up only having a couple hours before dark to do any real walking. So I opted for a nature trail at one of the local parks only to find that the local park and nature trail were less than a block in size. so much for nature.

So begrudgingly I turned around and parked at one of the parking lots along the Silver comet trail and set off. I did about 3 miles in just over an hour. I felt pretty darn good about it.

I didn't notice until I got home and into a warm bath that I have acquired my very first hiking blister. I think it's probably because due to my liner sox being in the dirty clothes pile I decided that a pair of halloween sox that were a blend of all sorts of different synthetic fibers, but not cotton, would work just fine. D'oh! as cute as they are Pumpkin sox are not trail worthy. Though I may also want to consider the variable that I was walking on concrete rather then trail the whole way, but who knows.

I am now reading "Long Distance Hiker" which I find quite wonderful, but I'm pretty sure even other hiker enthusiasts might find it a little dry as it's all about statistics from this guys research on long distance hikers.
