Besides all the other Characteristics about Lord Vetinari that I adore one of the most endearing to me has always been Wuffles. Probably because I also (up until last Tuesday) had a small Terrier dog that I love very much. I got to spend 14 years with my puppy and I can't tell you how much I identify with the seen in The Truth talking about Wuffles' aroma. No so much in the smell area, but just in the general idea of the aged symptomatic dog the owner still can only see as a dear little puppy.
Now with the passing of my little guy, I can't stop thinking about the part in Making Money that speaks of Vetinari placing a dog biscuit on Wuffles' grave once a week. It was touching when I first read it but I suppose now it just has new depth for me. I'd love to be able to honnor my puppy with this ceremony. It probably wont happen though. I live in a rental and I can't bare the idea of interring his cremains and then moving. So I'll probably scatter them in a National Park, but I dunno I've just not been able to get that out of my head... thought writing about it might help.
