Ok so besides getting a tan and being allergic to the sun there is one more reason why it is incredibly unfair that I have turned out to be such a nature enthusiast... I am Terrified of ticks. There is just something about those little fuckers that scares the piss out of me. I swear I've had all the tests and I and totally negative for Lyme disease but I can't shake the paranoia that the reason my inflammatory polyarthritis is RF and ANA negative is that it's really Lyme disease and I caught it in June on my trip to ft mt. and it incubated for two months and I began to have serious joint pain in mid august.

Any way... I just found an American Dog tick in my hairline on the back of my neck. I really don't have any clue what made me scratch there but I felt an odd lump and thought it was a scab or something but when I pulled my hand around there was a fucking tick. *shivers*and I know it was latched on because it had a bit of my skin still attached. *shivers again* now I've got goose bumps and the hebie jebies on top of the willies. I've ban my cat from my bedroom and changed my sheets and tried to call my dad to check his dog 'cause I was over there today.

I think I'm going to go take a hot shower even though I know that isn't likely to bother a tick if I still have one attached somewhere else but maybe it will make me feel better.

creepy fuckers

I really wish I had someone around who could check me I'm not sure my hand mirror is gunna do.

I thought I was the only person in the world who is allergic to the sun?!? How do you react?

LoL I break out in hives. Or at least that's what we think is causing it. My ruematologist said it's fairly common with autoimmune disorders, and I only started getting them last year after I started my wonderful outdoor job. You?

I break out in hives, too... always have. I have been tested over the years for all of the things that could possibly be causing it but nothing ever turns up. I don't want some serious illness, but I can't shake the suspicion that something isn't quite right. I take allergy medicine to control the reaction and avoid the sun when I can. Not very convenient, but better for my skin?

I had never seen a real tick until last year. I found it on me the first night of a silent retreat and had to wait 2 more days in silence before being able to tell my friend how gross it was!

oh man that's aweful. I don't think I could have kept silent. I run around in circles squealing even when I am totally alone.

Eh, you should be fine. When I worked grounds crew in college during the summer, I'd pull off at least three or four every day at the end of the day. Hell, once I got off work, took a shower, sat down to eat my pizza, crunched down on something hard, spat it out, and it was a tick...apparently it had survived the shower and hair-washing, then fallen off into my pizza.

eeeep! fuck eep! I mean I know the likelihood is that I am fine but I didn't say my fear of ticks was rational. Its like the one thing I am an uber wuss about!
