this is not very happy... in fact it's angry and if you'd like to stay in the holiday spirit read tomorrow!
I had a good discussion with my family today. God it's refreshing to hear people who think about things.
It's like the other day I had a friend tell me how sad a report she read at work made her. You see she read an article about the fact that most of the American companies that founded the economic stability we have come to live in as Americans are being driven out of America, and forced to close their doors because of Wal-mart and Target. Companies like Levi's and Singer! But when I told this friend that I had stopped shopping at Wal-Mart. She replied "Oh well I need the conveniance and driving to ten different places just isn't feasible." Well fuck her! Wal-Mart built it's reputation on buy American, but as soon as the founder passed the company to his children they turned else where. Wal-Mart not only buys unAmerican but they buy from countries that practice child slavery and sweat shops, stating that they have no responsibility to the workers that make the products. Wal-mart also does not promote women fairly. They pay men higher wages and promote men over females.
Don't believe me:

AND you know what drives me crazy: people who give the excuses that they are too poor that they HAVE to shop at Wal-Mart or they can't buy American. Those kind of people infuriate me but make me laugh at the same time. When they loose their jobs to the former Burma because Wal-Mart buys from Burma, and they don't pay attention to labels... I will laugh! You sorry son-of-a-bitch YOU gave your job away! You spent every hard-earned dollar you made so that some foreign government could treat people like shit! It's your own slovenliness and gluttony that will be the end of American prosperity. Why buy one American made shirt that cost $60 when you could by ten for that price from Wal-Mart?

Date: 2003-12-29 12:43 am (UTC)Your Job dear is and American Job! If we as Americans Spend our money on things that coem from outside our country rather then buying from ourselves then we end up sellign ourselves out of JOBS. It doesn't matter if you have nothing to do with the clothing sector. If you don't buy the clothes that the Americans who have earthlink service make then earthlink doesn't need you anymore. I was speaking on a broad level but if you'd like to take it personal I can as I just did show you how it is very personal to each and every one of us.
AND if you DO check your lables and do BUY American they I applaud you!!! However If you check the links I provided in my entry you will notice that Wally world has a long wrap sheet of social injustice, and tends to buy non-American. AND if you read my amend to that post I said that as LONG as peopel check the lables on what they buy and do a little reaserch then be my guest to sho where ever. I on the otherhadn will stick with thrift stores (recycling) and organic clothing.
