today I went hiking because I was feeling upset and needed to get out. I went up kennesaw mountain. but it felt so good to be hiking I just kept going... problem is that after kennesaw mountain the only trail I really know to get back is a look trail that is two miles down at pideon hill, and I didn't want to chance it on any of the side trails because I didn't know where they would take me. but it really wasn't until I got to pigeon hill that it dawns on me that the sun is setting and I have 2.7 miles to walk back. I walked as fast as I could taking only one break because I knew I was in trouble. I get to the visitors center at 9pm 30 mins after they close. the place is park the sun has set and the gate is closed. FUCK FUCK FUCK!

it wouldn't have been that big a problem if I didn't still have to go do the charts at the office. I would have just said fuck it and slept in my car. So I freak out and call a co-worker, and tell her I'm locked in kennesaw park. she has a neighbor that is a cop and they try to get ahold of the ranger. I tell Steph that I really don't want to call my dad so she offers to do it for me. well she calls my dad and he starts coming to get me.

then I get a call from steph and she says "uh... go push on the gate"turns out they just shut it and didn't lock it, but it was too dark for me to tell and I was already panicking.

*how embarrassing*

don't be. anyone in that situation would freak out. at least you know you can hike later and you won't be locked in.

no but they did write my a citation. Thankfully this time it was just a warning and not an actual ticket that I'd have to pay. It sorta pisses me off because I mean what the fuck, what if I had been hurt on the mountain... they don't even bother looking for you if you don't return to your car by closing time.
