Vitamins and supplements
Jan. 15th, 2008 03:09 pmSo today I went against my dad's medical knowledge, and tried some vitamins and supplements. I usually don't believe in this sorta thing because 1. I think you should actually get your vitamins from food sources, and 2. I think the remedies with herbs are not so much in their physical make-up but in their life force and thus cannot be packaged into a pill.
Now all that said. I have two things that pharmaceuticals aren't really helping with my depression/mood disorder, and I have increasingly bad arthritis... I'm only 26 here I shouldn't have this much arthro pain, but I've had a LOT of broken bones and surgeries, and it wasn't exactly like I had the greatest skeletal development to start with (probably the reason for all the blasted broken bones and surgeries.) I don't want any more surgeries if I can help it, and I can't afored them besides that, and there doesn't seem to be much of anything people can actually do about my maladaptive ability to live. So when all else fails try the shit you don't really have any faith in right?
I decided to give fish oil a chance because my psychiatrist actually prescribed it to a friend of mine that wasn't able to take most of the regular anti-depressants, So I figured I'd give it a try, I mean what could it hurt. I also decided to pick up some Flaxseed oil, because it has both omega-3s and Omega-6s and doesn't have the side effect of fish burps (though I did go for the orderless fish oil capsules.) Oh and Nature Made was having a buy one get one sale.
So I picked up a bottle of their triple flex works in 7 days, glucosamine, MSM, and Lubravite. I wanted to try one of the ones with Hilauronic acid in it but this was on sale and I figured I could see if this did the trick first.
Since it was 19.99 I had to find something of equal value to get free. I chose the Mood Plus SAM-e which is supposed to be good for joints, mood, and liver health. So I felt like I was killing a whole murder of birds in one go.
And in the spirit of inquiry I shouldn't take them all at once, but I'm inpatient so I probably will. Here's to hoping something works.
