crazy life job update
Jul. 28th, 2008 05:19 pmWow has today been a total roller coaster! Unbelievable!
Okay so last night shortly after finishing packing my lunch and taking my nini meds I realized that my Buzz Card and Marta Pass were missing. I put them on my new lanyard on Friday and it turned out that I am allergic to something on the lanyard and my neck broke out in a horrible rash. I don't usually take it off before I get home because I'm so terrified of loosing it. You see The Buzz Card is Ga Tech's ID badge and it's required to clock in and out, plus I'm supposed to display it whenever I'm on campus, but anyway... Very Important because they send people home for not having it. Well I spent more than an hour trying to look for it last night fighting my sleep meds but eventually I just had to go to sleep.
This morning I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm went off (IE 3:30am) and began to search some more. I ransacked my house. No Luck. OMG talk about freaking out. I went into interstellar panic mode!
I wouldn't have been so worried except I've already been late to work once because I missed the bus and then got lost trying to drive to work. Then I had to call out the next day. The truth... my alarm didn't go off and I woke up with not enough time to get to work, but being late twice in a row was soooooo not an option, so I called in a Vomiting story. Which it's kinda funny because the day I called out my poison ivy spread really bad all over the place and I started going nearly insane so I had to go get some prednisone for it. Any who... the point is that I've only been there two weeks and I've been out sick and I've been late to work already... I'm so afraid I'm going to get fired for stupid shit thats out of my control and I LOVE this job and I'm so grateful to have it. So today I started freaking out that they were going to fire me for loosing my badge because I wouldn't be able to clock in until after 8 when the buzz card office opened.
So I panicked all the way to work...
Walked right up to my boss and said... Um... We've got a problem.
and imediatly he replied... oooh you forgot your buzzcard.
I said no, that I'd lost it, probably left it on the bus Friday.
He's said he'd take me down to the student center and I could buy a new one or I could go home.
I said I'd be happy to buy a new one.
Then a few minutes later he informs me that he is taking me off the route I've been doing, and giving me my own section of campus!!!
Not just that but a really high profile, important section of campus.
I'm in charge of Tech Square!
That's everything from 5th st bridge To W. Peachtree, and from 4th St over to Biltmore... well part of Biltomore. Today I spent most of my time within spitting distance from Spring 4th.
But the best part about all of this is that I can really shine here. If I really do my job and keep Tech Square looking good... it's just me... so people will notice. It's also really cool because I am in charge of all the planting boxes and beds in the area. Weeding, pruning, maybe even some landscaping. I was told today that it's mine to treat like my own garden! (Haha we wont tell them that my own garden is a very sad over grown weed infested seriously neglected affair!)
Okay so I just had to get that off my chest... I'm so excited I could just burst! But instead I think I'm going to go take a shower because I'm grimy as all hell!
