Well shit!
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:32 pmI was sent home from work today on a workers comp. I can't go back until at least Tuesday. I apparently have a back strain.
I'm not sure I am going to be able to participate in the Babies walk tomorrow. This totally bites. I'm trying to figure out a way... maybe a wheelchair? but I'm afraid rolling myself is going to put just as much work on my back though maybe not as much on my low back. Can any of ya'll think of anything I can do?
I just hope the Doc says I can go back to work on Tuesday. WC doesn't pay unless you have to be out 14 or more days so I have to use vacation and sick time until then.

What is it for? I mean babies? Is is a walk to prevent child abuse or some other such thing?
Feel better and do not burn up too many sick days.
Have a fun weekend!

Date: 2009-04-24 08:46 pm (UTC)I thought premature babies was something that more or less just happens. Are the causes known and treatable?
Yeah the cost of premature babies (both on their later health and on the parents financially) is pretty rough.

Date: 2009-04-25 01:06 am (UTC)Like a great deal of the reason for my being born early was that my mother had almost complete renal failure. Which first of all prevented her being diagnosed as pregnant until I was already at 4 months gestation and they only found us then because they x-rayed her abdomen looking for gallstones. She kept telling the docs she was preggers but the tests wouldn't come back positive so they told her she was crazy and treated her for other stuff. and her body continued to get poisoned as I'm sure Alex and I did. From what I understand there was some sort of defect in how the umbilical cord split (we were identical twins) that resulted in Alexandria's death. They left me in for 4 days more because the best place for a developing baby is in mom, but as my sisters corpse began to decompose the amniotic fluid became toxic so they had to pull me out. but I was so tiny and under developed I had a lung collapse, brain damage, and couldn't eat. anywho they more they learn about why pregnant women get renal failure and other kidney issues they better they can prevent it. The more research that goes into technology for keeping primeies alive the more babies they can save. The more knowledge they obtain on how and why embryos split the more likely they can prevent defects like our umblical cord issue, or at least detect it early enough to possibly support the undernourished baby. I'll admit they are lofty goals, but I know its got to be worth it, and I know that I received some of the best care available at the time and that lots of other mom and dads that didn't have my parents resources lost babies they really wanted.
Oh I had a donation badge on my journal a few weeks ago I thought you had seen it.
