Hi everyone... I was just thinking about the ways in which we can change the world for the better by doing little things. Obviously this was prompted by my reading of the action alert from CO-Am. (you can read it by reading the most recent post in my personal LJ.
The idea I've come up with is that we should all go to www.kroger.com, www. publix.com, www.cvs.com, and any other major chain stores you can think of, and request items like Luna Pads, Glad Rags, Sea Pearls, Organic Coffee, Organic snack food and other change promoting products.
I mean Kroger and Publix have jumped on the organic wagon maybe we could push them to at least carry some sort or reusable menstrual product, or cloth napkins, or recycled tissue paper.
If your whole foods doesn’t sell Glad Rags request them, because they are supposed to.
I mean part of making the real change is making people aware of the alternatives and making them not seem so scary. I honestly think that if Kroger carried GladRags I wouldn’t get half the freaked out faces when I mentioned that I use and sell Cloth Pads.
*cross posted to a couple of different communities sorry if you get it more then once.*
My letter to kroger looked like this:
I would like to see Kroger carry items that promote reuse. I like shopping at Kroger, and do so often, however I have to take my business to Whole Foods to get many products that Kroger could offer me. I have included a list of items that I would like to see Kroger carry.
Recycled paper products (paper towels, tissue, plates, diapers, cleaning products) can be found at http://www.seventhgeneration.com/,
Cloth menstrual pads which can be found at www.lunapads.com and www.gladrags.com
Organic cotton disposable products (cotton balls, tampons, q-tips) which can be found at http://www.organicessentials.com/
Thank you!
The letter to Publix looked like this:
I would like to see Publix carry more brands that promote reuse. Things like cloth napkins, and more recycled products. I compliment you on your greenwise brand. I would also like to see Cloth menstrual pads and organic cotton disposable products like q-tips, tampons, and cotton balls. I am including a list of websites where you can find these items.
