I was just reading about several colleges across the US that have shifted their dinning budgets to local and organic farms. This provided fresher, healthier food as well as supporting the local economy. Buying local also helps reduce emissions because the food doesn't have to be hauled several hundred miles.

In one of the communities I belong to I read a post where a girl was lamenting over the fact that she was no longer in college. She seemed to believe that if she were in college she would be able to spread the word about alterative menstrual products more effectively.

I am in college. I'd like to start initiatives at my school. I haven't the foggiest how. I mean I've thought about going to student council or starting a club... but honestly I don't know how to do it.

There is an environmental alliance on campus, and their hearts are very much in the right place. I'm not sure what you want to do. If you want to start a club, I do have the info needed on how to do that and would be more than happy to help you. As far as food services at Kennesaw go, well good luck getting them to do anything that progressive. However, if you are really interested in making a difference in what Kennesaw does as a community, then I would start here...KSU has been suspected of not actually recycling anything. How about first offering to do an expose on them in the Sentinel? Then maybe taking that to Student Government and starting there?
