Jun. 27th, 2004 04:40 pmI was just reading about several colleges across the US that have shifted their dinning budgets to local and organic farms. This provided fresher, healthier food as well as supporting the local economy. Buying local also helps reduce emissions because the food doesn't have to be hauled several hundred miles.
In one of the communities I belong to I read a post where a girl was lamenting over the fact that she was no longer in college. She seemed to believe that if she were in college she would be able to spread the word about alterative menstrual products more effectively.
I am in college. I'd like to start initiatives at my school. I haven't the foggiest how. I mean I've thought about going to student council or starting a club... but honestly I don't know how to do it.
