Aug. 29th, 2003 04:25 pmso I've been in a panic attack for the past two hours straight. Don't know the cause, although I'm sure it has to do with my getting drunk last night. I had an aweful hang over this morning. only had three smernoff ice it really shouldn't have been as bad as it was. no my heart rate is at 125 beats a minute and I can't get it to slow down. I'm not real sure what to do at this point...

Date: 2003-08-29 05:24 pm (UTC)One is an herb...if you can buy dried sage, preferably the types that get used as tea, (but the smudging types are ok too, just not as pleasant) if you light it and inhale the smoke, the smoke will create a soothing calm and inhibit the part of your brain or the chemicals that cause you to spiral out of control in the panic attack. Just to let you know, burning sage does smell quite a lot like pot....but the effect does not make you stupid and slow, only relaxed and meditative. You can roll it up like a joint btw....just don't inhale lots of smoke very deeply otherwise it'll burn...if you only take it a little at a time it will be minty and cool and pleasant.
The other is a technique..if you believe in any higher power whether they be gods or a god or your higher self...lie down in a comfortable place and trust them entirely. You need to totally surrender to this higher power. Think of giving all your panic and anxiety and discomfort to the deity and they will take it from you and you can relax because you can trust them that they will make sure you're ok.
